Why Guitar?
Looks cool. You and your guitar is an orchestra. That is all you need to perform. But there are other reasons too. Improves hand-eye coordination. Boosts your confidence. Improves your social skills. When you are stressed just try strumming your Guitar.
How to choose my first Guitar?
There are lots of things to consider in your first guitar. You are not sure how far you are likely to go but may not want to spend a fortune. But, at the same time if students are inspired by the instrument they will get better much faster. So you want a good enough instrument. You want an instrument is built to last for atleast 2 to 5 years. You want it to be good enough that it remains in tune for your training sessions. So the beginner's budget should be such. Going for a beginner model from a good brand like Yamaha, or Fender will meet these criteria. But there may be other cheaper models that may be good too. Maybe going to the shop with a experienced person would be good idea or maybe talk to your teacher, he may know a good place or a good brand.
At what age can my child start playing guitar?
There are physical factors to consider to check if your child is ready for guitar. Their hands should reach the areas of playing. One hand should reach the string around the sound hole and other hand should reach the end of the neck without having to fully straighten your hand. Fortunately there are smaller guitars starting at 30 inch length that you can start with, an adult guitar is about 40 inch long. However, these are the physical factors. Some kids are just too driven to let these physical factors impede them. So if your child shows interest and if they can focus for 15 minutes at a time, you should just try them to find out if they are ready. You may visit our school and our teachers can also help evaluate if the child is ready.
What type of guitar pick is good for me?
Guitar pick comes with various thickness, from 0.4mm to 1.5mm. Thinner picks are good for strumming where you play multiple strings at the same time. A thicker pick is good where you need more control, like playing melodies.
Should I buy a clip on tuner?
You could always use a mobile app to tune but background noise may impact your tuning. The clip on tuner picks the direct frequency produced by the string through conduction from the wood. So it will be more accurate in a noisy environ than an mobile app. However if you can tune by your ear, using a keyboard, you don't need a tuner at all.
